Andrea Beth Schlanger

Andrea Beth Schlanger was born October 4, 1943, at St. John Hospital to Rose and Jack Schlanger. After several long illnesses, she died peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Kaiser Health Center at Zarrow Pointe. A student of Tulsa Public Schools, she graduated Edison High School in 1961. She later attended Northwestern University and graduated with a degree in journalism. After graduation, she lived in Detroit and worked as traffic manager at a local jazz radio station. An interaction with law enforcement (a license and registration issue that ended in a night in jail and a good story) led her to a decision to attend law school. She graduated from the University of Tulsa for law school and then Washington University Law School for LLM, where she was one of the few women enrolled. Upon her return to Tulsa as a licensed attorney, she worked for the Ungerman law firm for several years and eventually began her own private practice. Over the years, she also contributed time and service to multiple Tulsa organizations, including the Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, the Jewish Federation's Community Relations Committee, Iron Gate, and the University of Tulsa's Undergraduate Research Challenge. During her tenure as President at the Center for Individuals with Physical Challenges, she was instrumental in bringing Ella Fitzgerald (one of her favorite musicians) to Tulsa for a fundraiser for the center. Andrea was a lifelong fan of jazz, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and dogs (both caring for her own and supporting rescues). She enjoyed collecting art, particularly during her travels around the globe, along with spending time with her large collection of friends - particularly over a glass of wine. She quietly helped many people along the way and had a unique sense of humor that her family and friends appreciated. She adored her nieces and nephews, some of whom referred to her as "Yea-Yea". The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Keller, Dr. Michael Hubner, Dr. Caleb Scheckel, Nikki Sinko, the staff of the South Hall at Kaiser Healthcare at Zarrow Pointe, and Miller Hospice for the care provided over the years. Special thanks and appreciation to her longtime housekeeper turned trusted friend Larissa and her caretakers of several years, Regina, Pewa, and Valerie. She was preceded in death by her parents Rose and Jack Schlanger, sister Barbara Selzer and brother-in-law Jerry Selzer, and niece Eydie Selzer-Goldman. She is survived by her sister Bette Wozobski (Wynn), nieces Elizabeth Wozobski, Emily Wozobski (Jaime Finkler-Kahan), and Lori Selzer, nephews Scott Selzer (Melissa), Larry Selzer (Elisha), Randy Goldman (Cindy), and a large extended family. There will be a private burial. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 30th, at 2 pm at B'nai Emunah Synagogue.
