Cheryl Renee Benoit

Cheryl R. Benoit, 62, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 27, 2017, surrounded by her precious family and friends, as the beautiful music she had created on the piano played in the background. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, in Tulsa, and a Memorial Service at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, also at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. Cheryl was born on January 2, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was raised in the Tulsa area, and graduated from Sapulpa High School in the class of 1973. Cheryl then furthered her education, and passion for music at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa. She met the love of her life, Steve Benoit, at Grace Fellowship Church, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and they were married on September 20, 1986, in the church where they found one another. They grew together through their love for the Lord, and each other. Throughout their marriage, and ministry they lived in various places including Brunswick, Maine, Lisbon, Maine, and Tulsa. Cheryl was a gifted musician. The piano was a passion for her, and the music she played was transcendent. She loved praising the Lord with this form of worship, and it was evident in her music. Her love of the piano led her to record several albums, which display her phenomenal talent. Those recordings bring such comfort to those she loved, just as they did to her in her final moments. Cheryl was a woman of faith, and was eager to talk about the Lord with others. You could sense His love in the brightness of her smile, and the warmth of her spirit. She showed the love of Christ in a beautiful way, and her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching, and crocheting. Many people received handmade gifts from Cheryl that she made to express her love to them. Cheryl had worked for many years as a financial officer/manager for Moore Funeral Homes, Inc., and was a beloved member of their team. Her work family will miss her terribly, but are thankful for the time they were able to share with her. She is survived by her husband, Steven Benoit, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, mother, and step-father, Roy and Virginia Bryan, sister, and brother in law, Travis and Debra Bryan, niece, Brandi Bryan, all of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and her precious fur babies, Mattie, Boomer, Izzie, and Barrett. She was preceded in death by her father, Herman Higdon, and grandparents.
