Randall Robert "Randy" Fletcher

A tribute to Randall (Randy) Fletcher, age 57, will be held 11:00a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st St. S., Tulsa, OK. On June 27, 2011 after battling the disease of diabetes and attacked by a serious infection, he died unexpectedly with his mother and loved ones at his side. Randy was born on May 28, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was immediately adopted by Louise and Robert Fletcher of Tulsa, OK. He lived most of his life in the Tulsa area. He loved Tulsa, was proud to be an Oklahoman and boasted often of how blessed he felt to be a free US citizen. He returned some of his passion by volunteering in the Civil Air Patrol. He graduated from East Central High School and attended Southeastern State College in Durant to fulfill his dream of becoming a licensed pilot. Randy’s life was filled with a constant curiosity to experience as many activities as he could with even more joy when friends helped to create the memories. Some of those experiences included becoming a pilot and flight instructor at a young age. Other hobbies and interests were scuba diving, bowling, fishing, boating, camping, playing golf, traveling both in and out of country (Caribbean was his favorite) and riding notable miles on his various motorcycles. He was an excellent marksman and used his skills for both target shooting and hunting. It seems that with any activity he would always be listening to music or catching up on the latest History channel specials. His talents were many, but two (2) that friends and family will think of often were: His charismatic way of infusing humor into most conversations and his never ending desire to learn new things. This included his gift of being able to repair, revise, diagnose, re-build or design almost any item regardless of structure, electrical or mechanical. Seems it was a challenge to him to look for an end result with positive outcomes. He worked most of his adult life in the financial related areas of business like working with General Electric, Allis Chalmers and Credit Counseling Center of Oklahoma and Sooner Bolt and Supply. At the time of Randy’s death he had shared a home with his long time girlfriend of eleven (11) years, Lisa Hane of Tulsa. Randy was previously married to Karen Foley Fletcher, Stillwater, OK. He is survived by his mother, Louise Fletcher of Bixby, OK, an aunt and cousins in Dallas, Texas area and one (1) nephew Jeff Truitt of Kansas City, two (2) nieces Angela Truitt of Chicago, Illinois and Mindy Truitt of Urbana, Illinois. He will be immensely missed by his companion “Nash” (cocker spaniel) and his 11 year old cat “Baby”. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the celebration of his life be recognized by making donations to the Visiting Nurse Association of Tulsa, 7875 E. 51st St., Suite 9-3, Tulsa, OK.
