February 24, 1971 - December 2, 2020
Heather Denslow Swepston died peacefully in her sleep on December 2, 2020 in her Tulsa home. She was born on February 24, 1971, in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was adopted by her parents Dr. Gary and Lorma Spangler Denslow. Heather graduated from Holland Hall, where she participated in field hockey, horseback riding, and loved performing in theatre. She went on to get her B.A. at the University of Kansas (where she became an avid Jayhawks basketball fan). Heather then received a Masters degree from Oklahoma State University in Counseling Psychology. Heather volunteered on the ground at the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995. She was proud of the work she did with the survivors within hours of the bombing. Heather worked for Pediatric and Family Eyecare as a business manager, but started her own private counseling business five years ago, Cedar Tree Counseling in Owasso. Heather was fun-loving, full of love and laughter, and loved people. Heather, and her red hair, will be missed. Heather met her husband, Gene Swepston, and they married nine years ago November 19, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Her passions were many; she loved animals, was an enthusiastic fan of Kansas basketball, and loved spending time with friends in their Eureka home. She loved being in Eureka Springs. She is survived by her spouse, Gene Swepston; her parents, Dr. Gary and Lorma Denslow; her sisters Lorianne Kearney (husband, Jim) of Edmond, OK; and Gretchen Denslow of Tulsa. She loved her 7 nieces and nephews; Ainslie, Avery, Ayden, Chris and Denny Kearney; and Emerson and Warner Denslow. A celebration of Heather's life will be held in the spring.
