Dr. Jerome Edward Block

February 3, 1938 - October 29, 2015

Dr. Jerome E."Jerry" Block, MD, PHD, FACP of Tulsa, OK passed away on October 29, 2015. Born in Philadelphia, PA on February 3, 1938 to the late Charles and Eleanor Block. Dr. Block graduated Atlantic City High School and went on to receive a Bachelor's of Science from Muhlenburg College and his MD from the New Jersey College of Medicine in 1964. He completed his internship and residency at LA County General Hospital in 1968. In 1974, he became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He later received his PhD from Capital University in Washington, D.C. After numerous years of private practice in Sedalia, Missouri, Jerry and his wife settled in Coffeyville, KS where he continued to practice for 22 years. In 2007, he opened his clinic in Tulsa where he practiced until 2015. In addition to his loving wife of 35 years, Brunhilde "Brunie", he is survived by his eight children and spouses, Vici (Kevin), Deb, Dorlisa (Dean), Mike, Debby, Erika (Phillip), Karl, and Steven (Robin); as well as his 15 grandchildren, Melody, Ryan, Merideth, Tessa, David, McKenna, Madison, Emma, Jered, Christian, Matthew, Delaney, Dawson, Bryson, and Jillian; and 3 great-grandchildren, Henry, Anna and Greta. He was a spectacular doctor, who deeply cared for all his patients and inspired his children and grandchildren with his passion for caring and helping others. After receiving his fellowship at UCLA, he sub-specialized in integrative medicine. Dr. Block was a pioneer of integrative medicine, combining allopathic with alternative medicine and authored three books during his career. His philosophy of medicine was hands-on and personal, with a flavor of the old-time "horse and buggy" doctor. Dr. Block inspired many of his former medical students to pursue an integrative path and was a mentor in both his professional and personal life. He helped countless thousands find health and happiness. May his memory be for a blessing. In lieu of flowers, please honor the memory of Dr. Block with gifts to : www.DoctorsWithoutBorders.org ; or email: [email protected] . Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m., on Monday, November 2, 2015, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 South Boulder Avenue, Tulsa. Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 918-585-1151. www.fitzgeraldivychapel.com
