Obituary

Albert Duncan McCall was born in Milford, Michigan on June 5, 1924, the youngest of six children of Samuel and Bess McCall. He passed away at 92 years of age on September 5, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

As part of a large family, Al enjoyed his early years surrounded by siblings and a host of cousins. He graduated from Milford High School, playing football and running track. In summers, he worked alongside his older brother, Sam, for their father's business, Fisher McCall Oil Company, planting the seed for his ultimate career in the petroleum industry.

Al enrolled in the joint business/J.D. program at the University of Michigan before entering the Army Air Corps as a weather watcher serving in India during WWII. On a lucky Friday the 13th, while training stateside, he met the love of his life, June Ehlermann.  After a 6-week, whirlwind courtship, they were married and he shipped out shortly thereafter.  Following the war, they returned to U. of M. for a year then boarded the "Texas Chief" and headed to the University of Oklahoma where he earned a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering.

His career began in Texas with Shamrock Oil, then continued at 1st Natl. Bank of Tulsa (now Chase Bank) where he served as a petroleum loan officer for 27 years until his retirement.  He remained active in the petroleum industry until his death.

After coming to Tulsa, their daughter Karen was born in 1957. A loving father and husband, Al enjoyed playing bridge with June, traveling as a family, and honing his golf game with buddies - ultimately earning membership in the elusive "hole-in-one" club.   In retirement, Al and June lived the good life in Angel Fire, NM and Sun Lakes, AZ but gave up those idyllic locales to return to Tulsa to be with their family.  The time Al cherished the most was that spent with grandsons Ian and Payton.  A proud grandpa, he loved attending their academic and sporting activities and hearing of their exploits.

He and June enjoyed 68 years of marriage until her death in 2014. He is survived by a sister, Mary Jane "Mac" Jewett and her husband, Dave; a sister-in-law, Helen McCall; his daughter, Karen Dunning and husband, Lee; grandsons Ian and Payton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held Monday, September 12th, 10am, at the Church of the Resurrection.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Catholic Charities or Doctors Without Borders (two of the charities he supported), or your chosen charity.
