Obituary

Alice Ann Hunter née Forrester was born on November 10, 1946 in Houston, TX to Albert Ayers Forrester and Kathleen "Kitty" Welch Forrester. On Friday, June 1, 2018, she went to be with Jesus. She passed peacefully in her sleep in her home with her family at her bedside.

Alice Ann is survived by her favorite (only) daughter, Renee Herndon of Tulsa, OK; three beautiful grandchildren, Ashley (Herndon) Bell and her husband Alex of Boulder, CO, Katie (Herndon) Gold and her husband Quinton of Sapulpa, OK, and Taylor Herndon of Tulsa; brother, Al Forrester and his wife Sallie and their children Julia and Ben of Atlanta, GA; Sister-in-law Martha Ann Falgout of Iuka, MS; Special friends CL and Gloria Carr of Branson, MO; Kay Cleeland of Wagoner, OK; Julie and Bernard Cole, Bobbie Marks, and Lisa Marks, all of Ferriday, LA; Joe and Elayne Cornett of Rogers, AR; Bennie and Bobbie Fowler of Silver City, MS; numerous other relatives, and a host of friends. Alice Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eddie Hunter; brother, Leo Forrester; and parents Albert and Kitty Forrester.

Growing up, Alice Ann attended high school in Ferriday, LA, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1964 where she was a cheerleader and majorette. She excelled academically and was awarded a National Merit Scholarship. From a very early age, she had a passion for science which inspired her to go on and earn a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA and a Master's Degree from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA.

On November 27, 1964, Alice Ann married the love of her life in Ferriday, LA. Alice Ann and Eddie Hunter were happily married for over 48 years. She dedicated the first seven years of her professional life to education before becoming one of the first women to enter the rapidly growing computer programming field. This career path took her and Eddie across the country, from Arkansas, to Oklahoma, to Utah, then back to Tulsa, OK where she eventually retired from The Williams Companies. Alice Ann was truly a student of life who consistently sought to learn all she could and broaden her horizons, even earning a black belt in Tae Kwon Do shortly after her 50th birthday. This lifelong quest for knowledge and experiences was fueled by her fearlessness and highly competitive nature. She loved nothing more than a great game of rummy with the family, and schooling those she loved most with her card skills and quick wit. Her greatest joy in her life was her grandchildren and cheering them on as they pursued their passions.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Transitions LifeCare Hospice. Alice Ann's team of aides, nurses, and chaplains gave tremendous care and loving support to her and her family. It is because of their efforts that Alice Ann was able to spend her final days in her home surrounded by the people she loved most in this world. The service provided by hospice employees is truly a ministry and there aren't words to express our gratitude and love for each of them.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Alice Ann's name to the Norton Scholarship Fund from Central Church of the Nazarene in Tulsa or to Transitions LifeCare in Tulsa.
