Obituary

Anita Marie (Fiorella) Hill was born April 13, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She gently passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in Broken Arrow at Franciscan Villa, her home of 13 years. Anita endured a 35 year, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Despite continuous challenges of MS, her wonderful mind remained intact. She maintained friendships and correspondence, read when possible, listened to talk radio and watched TV, including Sooner football and OKC Thunder. As a devout Catholic, she joyfully included prayer in her daily life.

Anita attended Marquette School from elementary to high school, graduating in 1956. Among her many fond memories of youth, she enjoyed ice skating and cheerleading. While attending the University of Tulsa, Anita was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority but ultimately started a family. Anita was a parishioner of Church of Saint Mary's, where she started a Sunday preschool program, and her 3 children attended School of Saint Mary's.

She will be fondly remembered for her incredible mental strength and spirituality that served her well in adapting to MS. Anita never lost her warm sense of humor, love of people and appreciation of nature. Her friends and family were of great importance. Carole McGarrie and Bobbie Thompson assisted Anita with weekly visits and shared mutual friendship. Lifelong friend, Margaret Dayer, and Franciscan Villa resident, Father Swift were also regular visitors. Caring CNA, Rosa Saltzberg was a special part of Anita's last 5 years.

Anita is survived by her loving children, Jamie Hill and wife Janel, Tulsa, Steve Hill, Arlington, Texas, Teresa Hill and husband Craig Dermer, and two grandsons, Martin and Silas, Portland, Oregon; sister, Bev Monroe, Tulsa, and mother Kay Haubert McLaughlin, Tulsa, who is approaching her 100th birthday on January 20, 2014, and many other beloved family members. Anita fulfilled her desire to further research for a cure to MS through the donation of her organs to Rocky Mountain MS Center.
