Obituary

Anita Jane Henley passed from this life into to her heavenly home at the age of 71 years, on January 12, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Anita was born June 25, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Joseph and Mary Henley. She was the oldest daughter of 7 children and a Gold Star Family Member.

She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1970 where she was on the honor roll and in the Spanish Club. She then worked her way through Tulsa Junior College (TCC) earning an Associates Degree in Science.

Anita worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and the Department of Human Services.

Anita loved the Lord, life, her family and friends. She volunteered many hours in service to God over the years. She was awarded volunteer of the year for the work she did with Family and Children's Services. She volunteered with Book Buddies helping preschool children learn to read. She cared for her parents and grandparents as they aged.

Tennis was one her favorite hobbies, where she was fierce and fearless on the court winning tournaments, trophies and defeating her sister in straight sets.

Anita is survived by her 6 siblings and their spouses, many nieces, nephews, and an extended family of close friendships over the years.

Her legacy of love lives on within each of us.

Anita always wanted her friends and family to know she was praying for them and wishing them well. As she spoke to her sister on Christmas Day, she reminded her of her winning ways and speaking to her nephew, reminded him that he stands tall. Her words of wisdom, love, and encouragement were her gift to her family, friends and the staff that cared for her.

She loved the preschool children at Grace Living Center as family and they loved her. She would be waiting to greet them as they entered the building each day.

We give thanks to the staff that embraced and cared for Anita at Grace Living Center.

We are forever grateful to the staff of Good Shepherd Hospice for their excellent love and care of our beautiful sister until her last day.

God-speed sister until we meet again in our eternal life. We will be ready to meet you on the other side when our time comes. We know you will be looking for us, and ready to challenge us once again. Job well done, your work on earth left many tracks of God's light. We will keep your memory forever in our hearts and legacy alive spreading God's light and love in others.

Anita would want to leave us with her favorite Bible versus, John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
