Anita H. Wappler, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 after a brief illness. She was born March 1, 1918, to michael J. Ada M. Heide in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She received her Nursing Diploma from Saint Joseph Hospital, Mount Clemens, Michigan, September 13, 1941. She then enlisted in the Army, serving as an army nurse in the South Pacific. She met her future husband, Dr. Frank Wappler while in the army. They married in Detroit, Michigan, October 25, 1945.
She and her husband and two children moved to Tulsa in September 1954, where he joined the staff of Saint John Hospital in the anesthesiology department.
Anita served on the Board of the YWCA and was a member of the Pioneer Chapter of Questers. She and her husband enjoyed many years of international travel and enjoyed their trips to the southwest, especially Santa Fe.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Frank Wappler.
She is survived by daughter, Anne Whyte and her husband, Gordon of Thibodaux, Louisiana and son, Paul Wappler of Houston, Texas.

A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2011 at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
