Ann Moor Jones, age 74, passed away at her home on November 1, 2022, after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Ann was born on November, 30, 1947 in Kansas City as the youngest of three daughters to Larry and Mavis Moor. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, TX, then furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College and a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1973, she married Ken Jones and moved to Houston, TX, to become one of the first female geologists in the oil and gas industry. In 1979, she and Ken moved their young family to Tulsa, where they made their home together for the next 43 years. During that time, Ann worked as a geologist, teacher, and philanthropist in addition to raising her family and contributing to the lives of countless neighbors and friends. She maintained a close connection with Vassar College and was involved in St. Dunstan's as a choir member. She also volunteered untold hours with the Tulsa Master Gardeners, AAUW, and Jenks Public Schools.
Ann is survived by her husband (Ken), three children (Heidi, Jeremy, and Beth), their spouses (Brian, Kit, and Erik, respectively) and nine vibrant grandchildren (Alexis, Jasmine, Iris, Eve, Riley, Isaac, Levi, Loretta, and Lacey), whom she inspired to explore the beauty of the natural world and the fine arts of its people. She is also survived by her sister (Celia), nephews (Aaron and Adam), and great-nieces (Elle and Finley).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute.
