Obituary

Annahlee Jones passed away peacefully on December 7th at the age of 92, in her home and comforted by the presence of her friends and family. Before leaving us, the caring and devoted Linda Burton and Jenita Rodgers saw to her daily needs while her medical wellbeing was attended to by Dr. J. Frederick McNeer, a man who exemplifies a true doctor with the selfless giving of his skill and counsel whenever and wherever he was needed.

Annahlee was born October 20, 1925, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Van Allen Morris and Mattie Pearl Gray Morris. She attended school in Tulsa, where she found her one true love, Jimmy K. Jones. They graduated from Central High School in 1942, embarking on a lifetime of adventure together.

Always an excellent student, Annahlee was enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and later Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. At that time World War II was in full conflict and Jimmy was attending V12 Naval Officers' Training. The two secretly journeyed to Kansas City and were married on October 3, 1943.

A whirlwind romance of 64 years followed, in which Annahlee and Jimmy lived life to the fullest and travelled the world without reservation. The Jones Family began with the birth of their first daughter but was briefly interrupted by Jimmy's departure to the Pacific theatre of war, where he served with honor and distinction as a PT boat captain. Upon his return the family continued to grow, along with great success in law, banking and real estate.

While managing a household of 5 children, Annahlee was an active member of the Tulsa County Bar Auxiliary. She and her husband were both accomplished pilots and Annahlee was a member of the famous Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots. Annahlee also established and owned the Bazaar of London Square, a Tulsa institution for 45 years and a gathering place for friends to commemorate weddings, their homes, and other important celebrations in life.

With Jimmy's passing in 2007, Annahlee remained the bedrock of her family. She loved cooking, gardening, decorating and being surrounded by her loved ones. Even with so many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Annahlee always found the time to make special moments for each of them and express her affection.

A woman who demonstrated uncommon strength softened by kindness, grace and humor, Annahlee's enduring love of her family kept tireless pace with its ever increasing numbers. She is survived by her children: Pam Franks, Jay Jones, Jarry Jones, Janell Helmerich, and Jill Deck, alongside 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Memories of the full and storied life lived by Annahlee offer comfort to the many that now keenly feel her absence. She will be greatly missed.
