Anna Mae Tuller Allen (Anne)
Born January 23, 1932 in Fayetteville, Ark to Allen Tuller and Ellen Conklin Tuller, died September 16, 2017. Anne was head nurse of Recovery at St. Francis Hospital when the effects of MS forced her to retire. She loved being a nurse (God's angels as dad use to say) was honored to serve as President, Director and Editor of ASPAN (American Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses.) She continued to share her talents as a volunteer nurse for Neighbor for Neighbor and as a teacher at Tulsa Technology Center. She fought hard not to let MS and later dementia control her. It was painful to watch this beautiful, intelligent, strong spirit live in pain and confusion. As a family, we are grateful that God has called her home and she is now at peace.
Anne married Thomas E. Allen (Ted) on March 1, 1949, they were married 57 years before dad's death in 2006. Together they raised 10 children of which five preceded her in death. Losing her children had to be the most painful experience of her life, but during those times she was gracious, kind and compassionate. Her faith – and consequently ours – is strong and we look forward to seeing them again.
Aside from Ted, Anne was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nell Tuller and her brothers; Allen R. (and wife Anita), Samuel M., John M. and Jerry M. Tuller. Her son's; Michael E., Fredrick V., Robert L., Samuel R. and Arthur K. Allen. As well as numerous beloved members of the extended Allen families. She is survived by her sister Martha Tuller and brothers; David L. and Roy L. Tuller. Daughters; A. Marie Wright (Gary), Patricia A. Fry (Wes) and Christina L. Sample (Mike), sons; Thomas A. (Jeannie) and Timothy J. Allen, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Y. Allen. And yet again, numerous beloved members of the extended Allen and Tuller families. Anne is blessed with 14 grandkids, 26 great-grandkids and 1 great-great grandchild.
We would like to thank Millennium Hospice and Griswold Home Health for supporting us through this process. We appreciate their knowledge, compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, food or other gifts, the family asks that you consider gifts to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish (1428 N. 67th E. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74115) or Neighbor for Neighbor (505 E. 36th St. N., Tulsa, OK 74106.) Mass of Christian Burial, 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter and Paul Parish.
