Obituary

Anne Luthey, of Tulsa, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011. Anne was the first-born of Edgar and Cecilia Murphy in Omaha, NE, on July 25, 1931.

She was educated in private Catholic schools in Omaha, Lincoln, NE and Kansas City, MO. She attended the University of Kansas, where she met her husband of 59 years, Graydon Dean Luthey, who survives her. She was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma. During their marriage, Anne and Graydon made homes in Topeka, KS, Omaha, Bartlesville, Oklahoma City, Houston and Tulsa. They shared common interest in family, friends, church, travel and cultural events. She was a lifetime bridge player. All who knew Anne found her gracious, generous and kind. She will be missed.

Among Anne's accomplishments were her outstanding family: son Graydon Dean Luthey, Jr. (Debbie); daughter Lynn; granddaughters, Dr. Sarah Shepherd (Dr. Scott) and Katie Luthey. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Pedersen (James) of Tustin, CA, and Maricele Putnam (John) of Lake Havasu, AZ.

Anne's many friends will remember her as a member of Sigma Kappa social sorority, of which she was national vice-president; president of the Tulsa Shakespeare Club; vice-president and secretary of Tulsa Opera, Inc.; Board of Directors of The Summit Club; Friends of the Library; Board of Directors of Oklahoma Humanities Council, and many more cultural and civic groups.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Ambassador Manor and St. Francis Hospital for their care of Anne during her illness.

Visitation will be Noon-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Friday, December 2, 2011, at Church of St. Mary. Private interment will follow immediately after the Mass.
