Obituary

Our mother Annette Garvey Pringle passed away peacefully on Monday October 9, 2023, at the age of 95. She was surrounded by her six children.

Annette was born December 22, 1927, in Sharon, PA, to her parents Hugh Joseph Garvey and Patience O'Neil Garvey. The fourth of five children, Annette attended the Noroton School in Noroton, Connecticut, and graduated from Manhattanville College in lower Manhattan, New York.

Annette met the love of her life, Richard B. "Dick" Pringle, at the Miami Beach Club in Miami, Florida when both families were on vacation there. She and Dick were married January 5, 1952, and spent 58 wonderful years together until Dick's passing in 2010.

Annette and Dick raised six children. Her strong Catholic Faith was instrumental in developing her lifelong attitude of service to others, but frankly, that attribute came naturally to Mom.

Mom was constantly searching for what she could do next for someone else. No Thanksgiving or Easter was complete unless guests were invited, those who "might not have anywhere else to go". This included family and friends, but also nuns from Monte Cassino and priests from around the diocese. Mom's thoughtfulness was second nature to her.

After Dick's heart attack in 1981, Annette and Dick spent several weeks in Palm Desert, CA, and eventually bought a home in Indian Wells. Over 30 years they developed many deep and lasting friendships there.

The family recalls Mom's love of a good laugh. Even at the end she maintained her sense of humor, and never complained. Her strength held us all together after Dad's passing. It was never about her. It was always about others. We also recall her love of family, friends, the rosary, and peanut butter and apple sandwiches, not necessarily in that order.

She was predeceased by her husband Dick; her parents; her brothers, Hugh Garvey of Springfield, IL, Cy Garvey of Sharon, PA, and Michael Garvey of Indianapolis, IN; her dear sister, Patience (Garvey) Hogan of Pittsburgh, PA; and many brothers and sisters-in-law. She was the last of her generation to leave us.

She is survived by her six children, Brady (Allison) Pringle, Mary (Toni) Pringle, Joan Pringle, Denis (Bonnie) Pringle, Annie Pringle, and Katy (David) Bryant; nine grandchildren, Will (Rachel), Claire, Luke (Amanda), Catherine, Elizabeth, Saxon (Juliana), Schuyler, Paige, and Isabelle, four great-grandchildren; three "grand dogs"; and the majority of 44 nieces and nephews.

Mom had a deep and sincere love for the Church and a devotion to daily Mass. She gave generously to Catholic Charities, Christ the King, Cascia Hall, Monte Cassino, and many other causes. She was a lifelong member of the St. Charles Guild.

The family is so very thankful for the incredible love and compassion shown to Mom by the nurses and caregivers at Miller Hospice. Your kindness to our mother will never be forgotten.

Friends can honor Annette's memory with contributions to Miller Hospice.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023, 10 AM at Christ the King Church in Tulsa, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
