Åsa Maria Matsson, born July 16, 1960, to Aina and Gösta Kilström, passed away Monday, January 18, 2016, at 55 years of age.

Åsa graduated from high school in Bollnäs, Sweden. One of her favorite subjects was English. Little did she know that one day she would live and raise her family in America. On May 15, 1993, she married John E. Matsson, and together they were blessed with 22 years of marriage and three children. Åsa started raising her children in Uppsala, Sweden before moving to Tulsa in 2001. She loved family time spent during many road trips in different parts of the United States. Some of the places she particularly enjoyed included trips to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Cape Cod. Even though she loved those great sites, her favorite part of the trips was being with the family in the car, talking and getting closer to each other.

Åsa was a long time member of Victory Christian Church. Everybody who knew Åsa was touched by her kindness and warmth. She believed strongly in creating a stable, warm environment for her children. She lived and displayed the nature of Christ through her loving and kind nature. Åsa loved the word of God and had attended Livets Ord Bible School in Sweden. She imparted her knowledge of the Word to her children.

Åsa is survived by her husband John, her children: Josefin, age 17; Kristoffer, age 15, and Madeleine, age 14. She is also survived by her father Gösta, brother Sven, and sister Eva, who reside in Sweden.

A memorial service will be held in Christ Chapel at Oral Roberts University on Friday, January 22, 2016, at 1:30 pm, followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery.
