Obituary

Aurora Alisia Alejandrina Nieto Slape Lane was born November 26, 1935 in Candarave, Peru. She obtained a college degree in teaching and taught high school for almost 30 years. She came to the United States at the age of 54 on a vacation, fell in love with the country and decided to stay. She shortly found work at a Wal-Mart as a cashier. For the next 25 years she was a model worker. Many customers would stand in line to have the opportunity to say hello to her. She became a naturalized citizen in 2001. She was a passionate patriot, telling all how much she loved the United States. In 2010, she married Donald Lane, her longtime boyfriend and the second love of her life (the first being "futbol" or soccer). With her marriage, she stepped into the role of loving mother to Don's three children, Donnie Lane (husband Julio), Melody Kelly (husband Ron) and Steve Lane (wife Kim). They brought great joy into her life. She also had a role in the lives of many young people through her years of teaching in Peru and teaching catechism classes in the US. To her grandson Kris Kelly, her godchildren, Emily and Bob Aran, her nephews, Jeffrey Molina and Carlos Nieto, Jr. and Madison Wofford, Anna and Maria Puhl, she became a beloved grandmother figure, always willing to give them a hug or a little bit of advice when needed. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic church on Wednesday, August 16 at 2 pm. A short reception will follow for the family to greet her friends.

Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 918-291-3500.
