Barbara Ellen (Williams) Ash, age 80, passed away on March 5th, 2016 peacefully at her home in Tulsa. She was born April 23, 1935, in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of Bencile H. and Helen Irene Lindsay Williams.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15th, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1347 East 49th Place, Tulsa, OK 74105. Barbara was a graduate of Victory High School in Clarksburg where she was a cheerleader, attended West Virginia University where she joined Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in Education. She taught Physical Education in Okmulgee schools, was Drill Team sponsor, served in Service League, and was a founding Board Member of the Okmulgee County Family YMCA. Her interests included traveling, gardening, cross-country skiing, golf, and she was involved in her church. She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin W. Ash, whom she married in 1961, and her brother Bencile H. Williams, Jr. She is survived by daughter Gwen & husband John Fidler, daughter Beth & husband Corry Woolington, son Chip & wife Laurie, and son Scott & wife Monica, with 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her final resting place will be Greenlawn Cemetery in Clarksburg, WV. The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers Jan Currier, Rebecca Reeves, Lois Caron and Lori Filmore, for not only taking great care of Barbara, but for also being a good friend.
