Obituary

Barbara H. Gibson, 85, of Tulsa, formerly of Chickasha, OK, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 15, 2018.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22 @ 1:30 PM in the Founders Room at Inverness Village 3800 West 71st Street Tulsa, OK 74132.

Barbara was born on September 25, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline (Watson) Hannah.  She grew up in Edmond, attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and graduated from Central State College in her hometown of Edmond, OK.

She was very studious and an avid reader.  She enjoyed and appreciated art and became a docent at the Oklahoma Art Center. As she studied art and history her tastes in art changed and she became passionate about all aspects of Native American Art, ultimately leading her to become a docent at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.   She also enjoyed singing in the choir and being a Sunday school teacher at Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha.  After they relocated to Tulsa she became active in the Carpenter's Class at First United Methodist Church, in Tulsa.

She and her husband, the late Dr. Charles R. Gibson, enjoyed traveling, and spending time with their family.  They took their children to all coasts on extended summer vacations and especially enjoyed the gulf coast and Red River, NM.  A place that is dear to Barbara in particular is Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she made many wonderful memories learning about Native American Art.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved husband.

Barbara is survived by her children, Gigi Batchelder, and her husband, Ned, of Nevada, daughter, Libby Gibson, of Jenks, son, Chuck Gibson, and his wife, Barbara Jo, of Tulsa, grandsons, Joshua and Matthew Gibson, both of Tulsa, and her brother, Larry and his wife Marilyn Hannah, of Maryland. In lieu of flowers Barbara requested memorial donations be made to The Inverness Employee Appreciation Fund.
