Obituary

Barbara Ann Siemer was born on January 5, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri, and lovingly placed in the arms of William Alexander (Bill) and Hazel Marie Siemer. As an adopted only child, she routinely referred to herself as "spoiled", but most people who knew her would be surprised by that. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 64 years, William P. (Bill) Nole. Barbara leaves behind four children: William P. Jr. along with his wife Barbara, Mary, Edward, Jack and his wife Rebecca, all of Tulsa. She had eight grandchildren who were of course a source of great pleasure: William P. Nole III, (wife Katelin), Jeff Dickason, Ellen Nole, Molly Greene (husband Cody), Houston Nole, Madison Gustin, Emily Nole and Ashlin Gustin. In addition, she was blessed to know two great grandsons, Milo and Dexter Nole.

Moving from St. Louis in the 40's, Barbara was raised in the Rose Hill neighborhood of Tulsa where she worked in her father's neighborhood grocery store, was an enthusiastic and active member of the Methodist church just across the street, and an honor student in school. She was a proud member of the Will Rogers class of 1954. She headed to OSU to be a Math major, but after one semester had a change of heart and entered Hillcrest Hospital School of Nursing. This turned out to be a momentous decision, both professionally and personally. Since students pulled many shifts working in the hospital as part of their education, she had the opportunity to meet a handsome young orderly, Bill Nole. They were married in 1958 and started an exciting life together, as partners in all aspects. After a few years in a Doctor's office, Barbara found her true calling: Surgery at St. John Hospital. She never looked back. She distinguished herself as a hard worker and precise performer. Relatively late in her career she decided to take a managerial position as Team Lead for the overlap between the day and evening shifts. Once again she excelled: beloved by those she worked with and supervised, respected by the Doctors who depended on her efficient handling of "The Board".

Full-time work at the hospital was accompanied by full-time effort being a wife and mom. With four children involved in every manner of activities, she didn't just drive them to events, she showed up with homemade cookies. She was a tireless worker and tirelessly devoted to her family; both immediate and extended. She took care of them at home and accompanied them into the operating room. She helped EVERYONE.

However, she was not "all work - no play". Labeled The Bill & Barb Show by their adult children, they had plenty of adventure in their souls. Mid- to late-life saw them become regular travelers: to Branson for Daniel O'Donnell, Daytona Beach for Bike Week and New Orleans for Mardi Gras!

Barbara Ann Siemer Nole was one of a kind: the kind you always want on your side or in your corner. She never did anything halfway and could always be counted on to pitch in and help. No matter what. Reunited at last, Bill & Barb are no doubt showing out in Heaven.
