Barry Welch Blackmon, II, 49, died November 7th, 2016, at his home in Broken Arrow, OK.
Barry was born, April 29, 1967, in Texarkana, TX to Barry and Lyn Blackmon. Barry grew up in Texarkana attending Liberty Eylau. He attended college at the University of Texas; later achieving his degree from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.
He worked for many years, in Dallas, as a Database Administrator. In Dallas, Barry worked many jobs. Each job taking him to the next level in his field. It never failed that with each new job, Barry would collect a handful of new friends all of which he developed by being the office clown. He absolutely loved playing jokes on his co-workers.
It was in 1996 that he met his ex-wife, Gretchen Blackmon, and moved to Tulsa, OK. They married and had two beautiful, smart, and loving girls, Athena and Olivia Blackmon. His girls were his true pride and joy.
Barry, was a published writer, and very accomplished in his field of work. He enjoyed playing tennis, playing with his girls or (playing jokes on them), camping, or simply watching football, basketball, and Game of Thrones with his friends.
Barry is survived by his daughters, Athena Landry and Olivia Rose; ex-wife, Gretchen Lynne Blackmon; brother and his wife, Rich Groepper and wife Becky, their daughters, Joanna Groepper and Afton Pospisilova and husband Luke; sister, Kim Upshaw, sister, Rhea Pettit and husband Phil; sister, Dionne Dumitru and husband David, their daughter, Dylan Dumitru; nephews, Jacob and Joe Teel; dog, Hermione. Barry is also survived by numerous friends whom he cherished and loved.
When Barry was around there was always laughter and a smile. He probably showed up in a Hawaiian shirt, for in Barry's eyes, "You can NEVER have a bad day in a Hawaiian shirt."
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 17th, 2 p.m. at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 East 91st Street South, Tulsa, OK 74137.
