Obituary

Bart H. Younger
Born: August 23, 1942, in Hollis, Oklahoma
Went to Glory: July 13, 2025, in Dallas, Texas

Bart Younger was born on August 23, 1942, to Tyson and Frances Younger in Hollis, Ok. Even though they lived near Dodson, Texas the nearest hospital was in Hollis, Oklahoma. He always considered himself a "Texan"! A very proud Texan. Bart was the youngest of five children. He had two older brothers (Doug and Bob) and two older sisters (Gypsy and Natalie). His parents owned a farm in Texas. Cotton was their major crop, so at an early age, Bart learned to work hard and long hours alongside his siblings and parents. After his father's death in 1954, his mother moved to Amarillo with Natalie and Bart, as they were the only children still at home. Bart graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961 and then enlisted in the Army. He served for two years and was stationed in Germany.
When he returned to Amarillo he enrolled at West Texas University. His mother felt strongly about her children receiving a college education. All five of them graduated from college. Bart arranged his schedule so he could also work. He applied for a job at the post office and worked in the area where the mail was sorted. He had many stories about the time he spent working at the post office. He laughingly said he was a part time, temporary employee. They wanted to recruit him for a permanent position when he graduated, but he declined.
He graduated from West Texas University with a double major in economics in 1967. Then began his search for employment. Being an avid skier, his first choice was Colorado, but could not find satisfactory job openings in the area. Then he moved to Houston, found employment, but again decided that his future was somewhere else. With advice from his brother Doug, he interviewed for a position with Sunray DX in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He accepted their offer and moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas as a Marketing Rep, returning to Tulsa in 1970 when Sunray merged with Sun Oil Company. He advanced to be the Regional Manager of Crude Oil Purchases for northeast Oklahoma. Bart never missed a day of work in his 35-year career.
Bart had four children: Jill, Ticeen and twins, Bart, Jr. and Jan. He met his wife Sandra through a mutual friend. They were married in 1983. They both retired from Sun Oil in 2001. They traveled, played golf, snow skied and spent time with their eight grandchildren: Zachary, Ryan, Annabella, Regina, Joseph, Lauren, Saige and Tyson.
He leaves behind his wife Sandra, daughter Jan Moslener and son-in-law Mike Moslener, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In 2024, he and Sandra moved to Rockwall, Texas to be near their daughter Jan and other family members.
As described by a friend "Bart was an amazing person, so full of character, caring and intelligent, amazing stories and a figure that I looked up to." He guided his family with a gentle hand but knew when to be firm. He was always available for advice and a good story. As with any life, some of it was tragic, some of it was magic. His humor, great stories and smile will be greatly missed.
