Betty Nemec, 89, passed away on December 20, 2012, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Betty was born Betty Doris Lawrence on October 12, 1923, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton L. "Mike" Nemec. She is survived by two sons, Michael Nemec and wife Vivian of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Donald Nemec of Katy, Texas; five grandchildren: Adam Nemec, Jennifer Nemec-Charles, David Nemec, Daniel Nemec, and Michael Nemec; and two great-grandchildren: Lillian Grace Charles and Wren Sofia Charles.
Betty spent her life in Sapulpa, Coalgate and Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1942. Betty was an accomplished pianist and spent many hours playing the piano for choirs at the First Christian Church of Tulsa. She was also a professional secretary, working for Douglas Aircraft Corporation, the First Christian Church, and the Salvation Army in Tulsa.
Betty was a favorite of everyone who knew her. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter and mother-in-law. Her family will miss the woman they affectionately came to know as "Grandmamma".
Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel. A Memorial Service will be Sunday, 3:00 p.m., at the Chapel of St. Simeon's Episcopal Home, and a Graveside Service will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
