Obituary

Betty Johannah Scrivner was 96 years old when she left this world on August 2, 2021. She was born on May 13, 1925 to Felix and Hazel Suske of Coffeyville, Ks. She attended Coffeyville High School and after leaving high school she attended some business courses.

She married Russell Scrivner and they had a daughter, Rusty Scrivner Wilcox. Betty worked for 32 years at First National Bank where she was a night-time shift supervisor. After her retirement at age 62, she moved to a condo and started some friendships. She loved art. She was in various art classes. Some of her art was entered in the Tulsa State Fair and she won a ribbon for a portrait of her close friend, Myrna Little. She also loved crafts and her Santa's she crafted are famous and sit in the homes of all our relatives and her close friends.

Betty loved to travel and her travel buddy and best friend was Dorothy Kanne. She and Dorothy went everywhere together until Dorothy's passing in March of 2021. Betty, Dorothy and Myrna were known as the Golden Girls and had fun times together.

Betty was a sports enthusiast. She loved football in particular. Oklahoma State and Tulsa University were her teams. Diane Quin, a beloved friend of hers, took her to every Tulsa University home game and when they couldn't physically go to the games, they tailgated at Betty's condo and cheered on the team.

Betty liked adventures. One special adventure was a Mother's Day fishing boat cruise that included the Golden girls plus Diane. One last adventure of Betty's was provided by her beloved caregiver and friend, Casey Seabolt. They went to the Flying Tee where Betty was filmed golfing. She was so proud of herself.

She is survived by her daughter, Rusty Wilcox, her son-in-law, Tom Wilcox, her granddaughter, Allison Wilcox, MD, her grandson, Bryan Wilcox, his wife Becky and their two sons, Jack and Teddy. She is preceded in death by her baby, Leslie JoDean, her parents, Felix and Hazel Suske, her husband, Russell Scrivner, and her three brothers, Lester, Richard and Joe Suske.

A private family service will be in Coffeyville in the fall of 2021.

She touched many people with her twinkle in her eye, her sassiness, her wise advice, and true unconditional love. There will never be another Betty J.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
