Obituary

Beverly June Alexander passed away on Thursday, February 9th, 2023. She was born March 29, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Myrtle and August Braun. She was deeply loved and cared for by her parents and her older brother, Jerry.

Beverly briefly attended Maryville College of St. Louis, but missed her family too much, so she moved back to Tulsa after just one semester. She then enrolled in The University of Tulsa where she met the love of her life, Tommy Alexander. While attending TU, she was crowned Homecoming Queen while Tommy was Captain of the football team. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority where she met many of her lifelong friends. She was later honored to receive her 50 Year Pin with several of her Kappa Sisters.

She and Tommy married shortly after he graduated from TU. While Tommy was a Marine Pilot, and then later a pilot with American Airlines, they moved quite a bit, before settling in Irving, Texas. They had three children, David, Gary and Linda.

When Tommy passed away (way too young) in 1968, Beverly returned to Tulsa with her three children to be close to her family. In the years following that move, she faced the challenges of raising three children alone while dealing with cancer twice. She handled these challenges with great courage and grace.

She and her children immediately became some of the first members of Church of the Resurrection where she served on various committees and participated in many Bible Studies. She was a loyal and active parishioner for as long as she was able.

In order to support her family, she chose to pursue a career in Real Estate. She attained her Real Estate license, as well as her Brokers license. During her Real Estate career, she worked for several different properties.

She led a very fulfilled and active life and had many different circles of friends. She had a very special group of ladies that she enjoyed traveling with. They had many adventures to the Cayman Islands, Mexico, Florida, California, and more. She belonged to several different bridge groups, and attended many bible study groups (including a very special group that met every Wednesday beginning in about 1970). She even managed to work in a gym workout a few days a week up until a couple of years ago. She treasured each one of her friends dearly.

She adored her family and her greatest joy in life was being a Mother, at which she excelled. Having to raise her children alone for so many years, she made many sacrifices, and was able to take them on some amazing trips, educate them, and give them a wonderful life.

She was extremely self-sufficient and strong, and never lost that independent spirit. She wanted to be "in charge" until the very end. The kind staff at The Grove admired and appreciated that about her.

She gave each of her children a very special gift in the last few months of her life, by letting them know that she "lived a very happy life and she knew it".

She had many friends and family members who loved her deeply and will miss her greatly. Her faith was very strong and important to her, so we are all comforted to know that she will be greeted warmly by those that went before her, especially her soul mate, her parents and her brother (Gerald Braun).

She is survived by her sons David Alexander (Karen), and Gary Alexander (Jeff). Her daughter, Linda Balch (Fred). Her sister-in-law, Jeanne Braun, grandchildren, Evan (Chelsea) and Drew (Jessica) Alexander, Ashley Peters (David), Tracy Stephens (Hunter), Helen Drinkard (Don) and Fred Balch IV (Summer), great grandchildren, Kinley and Hattie Stephens, Brooklyn and Graham Peters, Dewey and Freddy Drinkard, and Kelly and Aiden Balch, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staffs of The Grove at Midtown and Seasons Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to her.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM, on Thursday, February 16th at Church of the Resurrection.
