Bobby Lee Stanfill was born on June 7, 1931 in Sulphur, Okla. He was born at home to James Edgar Stanfill and Bessie Graham Stanfill. Bobby was older followed by one sister, Wanda Faye Stanfill (Gibbs) of Lake Stamford, Texas.
Bobby went to Central School in Oklahoma City. Completing most of the tenth grade, he went to work. In March 26, 1951, Bobby was drafted into the Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict. One day an officer noted him under a vehicle and asked him what he was doing. He reported that he was fixing the vehicles brakes. He was called from under the vehicle, promoted to a Sergeant and placed in charge of the motor pool maintenance.
Following his Korean tour, Bobby went to work for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. Bobby met Wilma Jean Beurklin in October 1955, while Wilma was still in high school. Wilma graduated in May and in June 1957 they were wed. The match was apparently successful because they celebrated their 62nd anniversary prior to Bobby's last hospitalization.
To Bobby and Wilma's union, two children were born, John David Stanfill and Sherry Lynn Stanfill.
They purchased their first home in 1959 in North Tulsa, where they resided for 14 years. Bob worked as a Tulsa Bus driver from 1958-1968. Mechanic work prevailed throughout his life; however, he was employed as a machinist with CR Cross and Sperry-Vickers.
In 1986, Bobby went to school to become an official mechanic, but found he lacked the $100,000 to equip a shop. At that point he decided to go to truck driving school and went on the road driving cross country. He retired June 1993.
Bobby joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on March 31, 1978, after pleading with his God to spare his daughter's life, who had been diagnosed with malignant melanoma. Heavenly Father told Bobby that Sherry was going to be okay but it was time for Bobby to get things right with Him. Bobby called the missionaries that night and asked about being baptized the next day. He had studied with the missionaries for 18 years.
Bobby later served in the Branch Presidency of the budding Cleveland Branch with Michael Southward where he imparted his earthly wisdom guided by the Holy Spirit.
Bobby passed to his next estate on August 14, 2019.
He is survived by: his wife, Wilma Jean; his son, John and wife Latricia; his daughter, Sherry; along with 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sister, Wanda Gibbs; and many friends.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 21, 2019, 11:00 a.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. Interment with military honors will be in Braggs, Oklahoma, at South Bethel Cemetery.
