Obituary

Loving husband, father, and son Brian Andrew Curthoys passed away peacefully on November 11, 2019. Brian was born October 1, 1959 in Buffalo, NY, the third child of Sara Marion Nichols Curthoys and Truman "Skip" Wadsworth Curthoys.  In his youth, he played several sports, including championship junior hockey on teams coached by his father.  He also spent much of his youth working on the family dairy farm in Chautauqua County, New York.

In 1977, he graduated from Amherst Central High School, and continued his education at Cornell University, graduating in 1983 with a degree in Animal Science. Brian then moved to Tulsa, where he enrolled at The University of Tulsa Law School, graduating in 1988.  Brian became a distinguished lawyer in the fields of workers' compensation and eminent domain.  He won several cases tried in front of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, securing and furthering the rights of every land owner in Oklahoma.  It was at The University of Tulsa where he met Karen Anne McGivern.  They wed in 1987, and have four sons together.

Brian was known affectionately as "Big Daddy" to friends and family alike and was a staple at Father Hammill Field for the years his sons played football at Cascia Hall. For the past 20 years, he has held a tailgate at The University of Tulsa football games, where he served up his famous barbecue, chicken wings, and cold beverages.

Brian is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen Anne McGivern Curthoys, and his four sons, Andrew, Alexander, Timothy, and John. He is also survived by his brother Brad and his wife Ann, his sister Kathleen and her husband Nelson, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Brian's name to The Parkinson's Foundation ( https://www.parkinson.org/ ).

He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. - 2 Timothy 4:7.

A prayer service will be held at 5 pm Friday, November 15, at St Rita Chapel at Cascia Hall, and a funeral will be held at Christ the King Church, 1520 S Rockford Ave, at 11 am, Saturday, November 16.
