Obituary

Brother Christopher Baker, 62, died on March 16, 2016 at Methodist Manor in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A De La Salle Christian Brother for 37 years, he was born in Memphis, Tennessee, son of Ray and Marguerite (née Scarborough) Baker. He graduated from Memphis Catholic High School and entered the novitiate of the Christian Brothers in 1979. He professed his first vows on August 9, 1980, in Glencoe, Missouri, and his perpetual vows on October 17, 1987, in Tulsa. Brother Christopher earned a B.S. from Christian Brothers University in Memphis and an M.Ed. from the University of Memphis.

During his years as an educator he taught in high schools in Omaha, NE; St. Louis and Kansas City, MO; Paducah, KY; and Greenville, MS. He taught at Bishop Kelley in Tulsa from 1985 to 1995 and returned in 2004 where he has taught since. Survivors include his sisters Julie Baker-Bell and Laura Haddock, brothers Tim and Stephen, and the De La Salle Christian Brothers.

Visitation will be Monday, March 21, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Vigil, both in the Chapel at Bishop Kelley High School. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. Mary, 1347 E. 49th Place, Tulsa, Tuesday, March 22, 10:00 am. Interment will be at Christian Brothers Calvary Cemetery in Glencoe, Missouri.
