Byron B. "Ban" Ormsby, 90, of Tulsa, OK, died on January 28, 2018 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Ban was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 6, 1927 the son of Emmett and Helen Ormsby. Ban was born during the 1927 World Series between the Yankees and the Pirates where his dad was an umpire. He was always so proud of his baseball heritage as he was named after professional baseball's first president of the American League, Ban Johnson. Ban NEVER wavered from his American League roots. He grew up in the Chicago area, one of twelve and graduated Class of 1950 from the University of Notre Dame. Ban married the love of his life, Therese Curran in 1954. Ban and Therese raised their three children, Ban, Maribeth and Jane, in Chicago until the family moved to Tulsa with CITGO in 1967, where they joined St. Pius X Church and School.
Ban's greatest joys were his faith and his family. Boppa loved being involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren, rarely missing any opportunity to support them in their many activities.
