Obituary

Champe Carter Graham, 81, passed away February 14, 2012 while in hospice care at Clarehouse. He was born April 10, 1930 in Sheffield, Alabama to Richard M. Graham and Eloise Carter Graham. He was a graduate of Fishburne Military School, Waynesboro, VA. Class of 1948, and the Georgia Institute of Technology, Class of 1953, with a BS in Industrial Management. While there, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and several other campus organizations. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving from September, 1953 to April 1957.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jacquelyn Graham. Other survivors include his son Stuart, his wife Shelby, and their children Piper, Mary, Wyatt, and Lily; son Carter and his daughter Jacquelyn and her son Kellan; Three nieces, Victoria, Catherine and Elizabeth. He was preceeded in death by his son Richard, his sister, Sylvia, and his parents.
Carter had a lifetime career with J.B. Beaird Company, later Beaird Industries, Shreveport, LA., as a District Sales Manager based in Tulsa. During this time, he was a member of several professional organizations related to the oil and gas industry. His interests included sports car racing, fishing, gardening, stocks and investing, Samoyed dogs, his family and all his wonderful friends and associates.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Salvation Army, a lifelong favorite charity of his. Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, February 17, at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel (918) 291-3500.
