Obituary

Carlo Lenora, age 100, died on May 16, 2024, in Tulsa, OK, and was born on July 4, 1923, in Schulter, OK, to parents, Gaetano Lenora and Nunzia Maisano Lenora. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps fighting in the Pacific Theatre from 1941 to 1945. While deployed, he and his brother, Tony Lenora, were reunited by chance in Japan after years of being separated. After returning to Oklahoma, he married the love of his life, Leona Joyce Barnes, on December 29, 1947, whom he survived in 2011, after nearly 64 years of marriage. After moving to Tulsa in 1947, he accepted a position as an elevator mechanic and worked for Dover, Otis, and Westinghouse Companies, and, finally, as the Business Agent for the IUEC where he retired after more than 40 years of dutiful service in the industry. Carlo Lenora spent his time coaching his children's baseball and softball teams, being a loyal union member, and a faithful member of the Catholic Church of which he and his wife were founding members of St. Mary's Parish. He enjoyed annual fall hunting trips, finding the right coupons for groceries, attempting recipes from Justin Wilson and Rachel Ray, spending time with family, and helping raise and never missing any of his grandsons' sporting events. His family and friends will always remember him as a strong and principled family man who passed on his values of honesty, integrity, and honor. He is preceded in death by his wife, Leona Lenora; sister, Rosie Lenora Boyce; parents Nunzia Masaino Lenora and Gaetano Lenora. He is survived by his brother, Tony Lenora; three children and their spouses: Nanci & Michael Clendendin, Michael and Susan Lenora, and Lauri Lenora; three grandchildren and their spouses: Dustin Clendenin, Chris and Nan Clendenin, and Ian and Heather Lenora; and three great-grandchildren: Delaney, Olivia, and Silas. The funeral is scheduled for Friday, May 24, 2024, at 1:00pm, at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to send donations to Catholic charities in his honor.
