Carmen Esparza Feierabend, lovingly known as Maya or Aunt Mono, passed away on July 12, 2024, at the age of 75. She was born on October 1, 1948, in Houston, Texas, and most recently resided in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Carmen was married to Jerry Feierabend for nearly 47 years and together they built a strong and loving relationship. She was a devoted mother to her children and took great pride in being a grandmother to her beloved grandchildren. She enjoyed creating beautiful paintings, dancing, and playing volleyball. In fact, she met her husband Jerry at a church volleyball event. She attended the University of Houston and began work in data processing at Harris County in Texas before meeting Jerry.
Carmen had a deep love for her family. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren above all else. Whether it was seeing them for holidays, birthdays or just taking care of them for an afternoon, Carmen was happiest when she was together with her family.
The impact of Carmen on the lives of others was immeasurable. She was a constant source of love, support, and guidance for her family. Her unwavering faith in the Lord and dedication to her loved ones were defining aspects of her character. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and devotion.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family members, including her husband Jerry Feierabend; her three children: Jerry Glynn, Jason Paul, and Jonathan Michael, and her eight grandchildren: Ava Juliana, Caden Luke, Madelyn Claire, John Henry, Preston Michael, Grace Marie, Hailey Loraine and Christian Cole. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Lindsey Michelle, her three sisters: Vivian Padilla, Mary Cano, and Sylvia van Rooy, and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio Esparza and Amelia Garcia, her brother Marco Esparza, and her sister Consuelo "Connie" Esparza Ramirez.
May Carmen Esparza Feierabend rest in eternal peace, knowing that her life was a testament to the power of love and family.
Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Tuesday, July 16 followed by a funeral service at 11 am Wednesday, July 17 both at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. Entombment will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery.
