IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane
Fletcher
November 20, 1952 – March 16, 2026
Memorial for Diane Fletcher
Fitzgerald Southwood Chapel
Starts at 10:30 am (Central time)
Don and Colleen Henley welcomed their red-headed little girl on November 20, 1952, in Oxford, Mississippi. Diane already had a brother waiting for her at home named Stevie and six years later would welcome her little brother, Bruce.
Diane was a true Daddy's girl in every way as she grew up in Longview, Texas. She attended Forest Park Junior High before moving north to attend and graduate from Pine Tree High School in May of 1971. Diane would go on to attend Stephen F. Austin and later complete a Police Science associate's degree from Kilgore Junior College.
Diane found her way into banking early in her professional career, working in Longview, Henderson, and Dallas before switching career paths after 25 years, when moving back to her home in East Texas near Tatum. Diane took a job with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services based in multiple East Texas communities and would retire in 2014.
Diane once said she was looking for a guy who reminded her of her Daddy, and she met and married her husband of almost 40 years, Rodney Fletcher, in 1978. Rodney and Diane traveled for Rodney's work for several years, but at the same time always found time to camp and fish at any nearby lakes. She and Rodney loved spending time outdoors on their East Texas property and at their pond nicknamed, "frog pond." She had great fondness of their dogs, and it seemed like they were always finding a new one to care for.
Diane loved her family and Rodney was the center of her affection until his passing in 2016. She relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to be near her brother Bruce and his family Claire, Curtis, Celia, Caitie, and his six grandchildren, whom she adored and lavished with love. Diane was an active member of First Baptist Tulsa and the Adult 5 study group, where she loved to participate in trips with the Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children and had many friends.
While Diane's illness came suddenly and took her life unexpectedly, there is no doubt she was ready to leave and be present with the "Lord of All." Diane will be missed for her sense of humor and love of telling stories and reminiscing about past experiences, both the good ones and the sometimes embarrassing ones, while making special new memories with her family.
