Carol Lynne Sweet was born in San Francisco, California on February 25, 1951, to Seymour and Rosalie Sweet and died as she lived, on her own terms, on April 17, 2024.
Carol graduated from Edison High School, Oklahoma University and finally the Southern California College of Optometry where she earned her Doctor of Optometry. After a one-year internship at SUNY, Carol returned to Tulsa where she went into practice with her father, Sy. Upon Sy's retirement she ran a successful enterprise specializing in Vision Training for children. In 1996, Carol was one of the optometrists in Atlanta for the Olympics. In 2017, Carol was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and closed her practice.
A wonderful moment came to Carol in 2001 when, as a single mother, she adopted a new-born infant, Brandon Samuel Sweet. He is scheduled to graduate from Tulsa University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Sy Sweet, and her brother, Brian Sweet. She is survived by her mother, Rosalie Hanson; her stepfather, Bob Hanson; her son Brandon Samuel Sweet; her sister-in-law, Holly Sweet; as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, friends, and patients too numerous to count.
Graveside Services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery on Thursday April 18, at 10:00 AM.
