Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Haines, 85, passed away on April 8, 2016.

He was born in Doylestown, PA, on January 28, 1931 to Charles Henry Haines and Elizabeth Todd Haines.

Chuck attended Buckingham Friends School, where his mother taught and then graduated high school from George School. After high school, he joined the Navy in 1949 and served during the Korean War on the USS Bataan.

After returning home from the Navy, he moved to Tulsa to attend the University of Tulsa. He started his career with Sun Oil Company in 1960 at a DX service station as an Assistant Manager.

In 1961 he met his future wife, Ann, and they married in 1962. Together they started a family and his career took them to Little Rock, AR and then back to Tulsa. Upon returning to Tulsa, he returned to the DX service station, as Manager until 1976. He then, took a position with Sun Oil Refinery until his retirement in 1991.

For the past 25 years he has enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf, taking long walks, traveling and gardening. Chuck was a gentle, kind man who had an infectious smile, wonderful laugh and loved his family more than anything in the world. Throughout his journey with Lewy Body Disease, he maintained his sense of humor and generous nature. Chuck was a loving husband, married to his wife, Ann for 53 years, father of 4, grandfather of 9 and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Beth Ernst and sister, Ellen Matthews-Sodano.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Kevin Haines; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Doug Simon; daughter, Julie Lindsey; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Adam Walkoviak; grandchildren, Grant and Mason Haines; Cali and Cori Henderson; Isabel and Fiona Lindsey; Avery, Josie and Natalie Walkoviak. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11 at Fitzerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. With a reception immediately following in Fitzgerald's Family Center.
