Obituary

Charles Wollmershauser, Patriarch of the Wollmershauser family, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the age of 92. We are all sure that his loving wife of 66 years, Kathryn, met him with open arms at the Gates of Heaven. Charles was surrounded by his loving family until God called him to Paradise.

Charles was born on March 25, 1925, in St. Louis, MO, to Arthur and Sophie Krill Wollmershauser. Sadly, at age six, Charles' mother died, and later his father married Bertha Laube and she stepped in to mother Charles throughout his childhood. Charles attended Iowa State University and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Navy in WWII. He retired from American Airlines as Assistant Vice-President of Engineering in 1988.

He married Kathryn Frazier in 1945, and together they built a legacy of family life that will continue to be cherished by all their children. Throughout their marriage, they traveled to many wonderful places such as Greece, England, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Alaska, Brazil, and Aruba. Their home was filled with many reminders of their travels together. There were many Sunday afternoons filled with Tripoly, dominoes, and Oh Hell card games, and the entire family would join in with great gusto. Charles loved Sooner football, Dallas Cowboys, and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He and Kathryn loved to run over to the Casino to try their luck, and as in love, they were lucky there as well! In later years, after Kathryn's passing, Charles traveled with some of his children and grandchildren to St. Louis to watch the baseball games together. He also enjoyed attending the PGA Champions Tour Golf tournaments in Biloxi yearly. In 2015, he was honored as the oldest WWII Veteran in attendance there. He also traveled with his children to Italy and New York City. We were all amazed at his vigor and stamina! He taught the value of hard work to his children, and even in his 90s, Charles helped out at the family business, Home Hardware. He recently moved to an Assisted Living apartment at Legend at Tulsa Hills. The entire staff at Legend made our whole family feel at home as they cared for our Dad, and shared in our grief at his passing.

Charles and Kathryn together blessed the lives of their four children, daughter Ann Rogers (Denny), and their children Greg (Carrie), Mike (Kari), Emily, and Eric, son Charlie (Kathy), and their children Tim and Jeff (Lina), Brad Aderhold (Dana), and Sara Doutt (Patrick), son Mark (Peggy), and their children Amy and Mark Jr. (Elizabeth) and son Matthew (Laurie) and their children Tyler (Hannah), Justin, and Bailey. Charles and Kathryn also had eight great-grand children, Alex, Kaitlyn, Ryan and Quentin Rogers, and Mark III and Madilyn Wollmershauser, Hagan Aderhold, and Savanna Doutt. He will also be remembered with great love by his brother Richard Wollmershauser and his wife, Barbara, with their children Jon and James (Audrey) and their grandchildren Grayson, Hannah, Isaac, and Jane.

Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathryn, his parents,
Arthur G. Wollmershauser, Sophie Wollmershauser, and Bertha Wollmershauser, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Lucile and Jim Mikkelson, and brother Arthur (Bob) and wife Juanita Wollmershauser.

The Wollmershauser family wishes to thank the nurses on 3rd Floor North, especially Tamara, Jessica, and Taylor, and the rest of the staff who attended to Charles at St. Frances Hospital in his final days, as well as St. Frances Hospice which supported our whole family.

When thinking of our Dad, this Scripture comes to mind-
"He asked You for Life, and You gave it to him, length of days, for ever and ever...
Surely You have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of Your presence." -Ps.21:4,6

A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, at 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald's Funeral Service at Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st St., Tulsa. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 9, at 2:00 p.m at The Church of St. Mary, 1347 E. 49th Place, Tulsa.
