Charles de Graffenreid "Chili" Stone passed away peacefully the day before his 97th birthday. He was born August 8, 1913, to Thomas David and Gertrude Amanda (Innerarity) Stone in Marshall, TX. Chili was athletically gifted and particularly excelled in football and baseball. He graduated in 1936 from St. Edward's University in Austin, TX, with a BA in History. He was a member of the varsity football team. Upon graduation, Chili moved to Harlingen, TX, to teach and coach. At the outbreak of WWII, Chili enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the USS Tinsman, a destroyer escort, as Lieutenant (JG) (D). In 1946, he married Ina Allen (Bramlette) Touhey and joined National Gypsum Co. Chili was a sales professional all his career. He retired in 1978 and joined Commercial Brick as a Special Representative. Chili is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ina; step-son, Dr. John Touhey of Dallas, T X; daughters, Pat Frank of Annandale, VA, and Pam Weatherholt of Tulsa; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Rosary Service will be at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2010 and Funeral Mass on Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m., both at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment at Memorial Park Cemetery.
