Obituary

Christopher Nolan Cooley, an Artist, left this Earth at the age of 43 on
Wednesday, April 19th, 2016. Chris entered the world in Fremont, NE on
September 26, 1972 to Patricia Ann Twibell Cooley and David Cooley. He was raised in Tulsa, OK by and around loving family and friends.

A life is built through purpose and chance and Chris made his something beautiful. He understood all that is wonderful and all that is complicated and captured this in songs, poetry, novellas and general musings often posed to those that regularly enjoyed his company, sitting at the counter of his restaurant BBDII: The Deuce.

An exceptional husband, father, son, brother and friend to so many, words fail to grasp the sense of his presence and prose. Chris made all of us better and he gave everything - always. His love and dedication to his wife and children cannot be overstated. They were his Moon; his true and life-long loves. They adored him.

As a young man, Chris became a drummer and began forming bands in high school. A natural wordsmith, he wrote and recorded hundreds of songs, published them to album, and distributed them through cassette tapes and compact disc. His music and volumes of poetry were fixtures in Tulsa, notably at one of his favorite spots, Mohawk Music.

Through live performance as a multi-instrumentalist band member, solo and spoken word artist, and writer, Chris was a prominent figure in the Tulsa art scene.

Chris is survived by his beautiful wife, Jessica Lynn Cooley; their daughters, Mairead Lynn, Bridie Lynn, Ruairi O'Moore Lynn, and their son Nuallain Christopher Adamson of Tulsa, OK; daughter Martha Nelle Alford and grandson, Abel Peche of Charleston, SC; father David Cooley of Wheat Ridge, CO; brother Devin Cooley and wife Michelle of Louisburg, KS; nieces Caitlyn, Anna Grace and Kenna, and nephew Keegan; father and mother-in-law Larry Thompson and Donna Thompson of Tulsa, OK; brothers-in-law Adam, Ben and Jeff Thompson.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann Twibell Cooley of Tulsa, OK; his grandparents Nolan and Tess Twibell of Oldsmar, FL, and Talley and Doris Cooley of Wheat Ridge, CO.

A devout Catholic, Chris' belief in his Savior Jesus Christ was a continued source of peace and calm. His Faith was truly essential to the fabric of his life and moved him with intense meaning.

He was dearly loved and he will be deeply missed. Love and Light.

We will see you on the flipside.
