Charles (Chuck) Robert Hogan, age 77, died on the morning of September 7th, 2023. Chuck was born on September 4, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas to Maurice and Mary "Janie" Hogan, the fourth of ten children to a traditional Irish Catholic family. His formative years were spent running around Sedalia, MO, where he graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1964. From there, he attended St. Benedict's College and then Central Missouri State University, where he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biology.
Chuck started his medical career at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City and MAWD Laboratory in North Kansas City. In 1974, he married Jean Ann Cray and they had four children together: James Robert (1975), Anne Elizabeth (1978), John Charles (1984) and (Mary) Ruth (1989). The family moved to Tulsa in 1981 for Chuck to take a position at St John's Medical Center laboratory, which later became Regional Medical Laboratory, where he served as the manager of microbiology for over 30 years.
Over his lifetime he was a son, brother, road crew worker, mail sorter, beer truck driver, frog parasitologist, school teacher, school bus driver, principal, coach, medical technologist, husband, father, choir member, clinical microbiology lab manager, adjunct professor of clinical microbiology. From his childhood, Chuck was always a character. He loved movies and music, and was often found singing and dancing with his loved ones. Not even Alzheimer's Disease could take away his love of music and dancing. He was an example of dignity and grace in the face of adversity.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean, his four children, 7 of his 10 siblings: Margaret (Margie) Milano, Patricia (Patty) Cass, Elizabeth VanVleet, Tim Hogan, Teresa Owens, Martha Pledge, and Kathleen (Katie) Beck, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Michael and Martin.
