Clara Mae Augustine Cooper was born on July 9, 1927 to William David and Addie Peay Augustine in Sterling County, Texas and passed away on April 20, 2022. She attended school in Sterling City, Texas and graduated in 1944. She went on to Texas Tech University where she met Delbert Cooper, Sr. Clara and Delbert were married in October of 1946. They lived in Lubbock, TX and moved to Tulsa, OK where they raised their daughter and two sons.
Del and Clara loved to travel and went to many countries but their favorite place was the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.
Clara's hobbies were gardening, needle point, painting and reading. Her passion was sewing which she learned at the age of three sitting on her grandmother's lap as she watched her use a treadmill sewing machine. Clara was an accomplished seamstress and she took up quilting in her seventies creating beautiful quilts that she gave to family and friends. She continued her love for sewing the rest of her life and was a member of a sewing group, The 3rd Hand. Clara was a talented artist and her art work has been cherished by so many. Clara was devoted to her family.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, G.W., Sam, and Tommy, her husband, Del and son D. Ross Cooper Jr. Clara is survived by her sister-in-law Karen Adams, GA daughter Kathy Wiedel (Tom) of Costa Mesa, CA, son Kevin of Tulsa, daughter-in-law Ann Cooper of Tulsa, three grandchildren, Laura Cooper Bryant (Todd), Drew Cooper and Kathryn Wiedel, one great granddaughter, Clara Bryant and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 E. 91st. St., Tulsa, OK.
