Cristi Lu Wilson, aged 76, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on July 24, 2025. She was born on August 3, 1948, in Parsons, Kansas, and graduated from Parsons Senior High School in 1966. Cristi continued her education at the University of Kansas and Sacred Heart College, later earning her Registered Nurse qualification from St. Francis School of Nursing. She devoted four decades of her career to hospitals and clinics in the Wichita area and eventually retired from Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas.
Cristi was devoted to her family and took great joy in following the lives of her sons and grandchildren. She loved painting, exploring her family's genealogy, spending time with loved ones, reconnecting with old friends at high school reunions, and visiting new places. She developed a passion for history during her teenage years, particularly while living for a short time in Gulfport, Mississippi. The area's fascinating past and its famous haunted plantations inspired her to dream of traveling down the Mississippi River-a dream that she and Bill were fortunate enough to fulfill last year.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Wilson; sons Robert (Megan) Wright and Ryan (Troy) Wright-Spain; stepchildren Robert (Lynn) Wilson, Susan (Sam) Bursch, and Christopher (Stephanie) Wilson; grandchildren Robert "Bubba" and Michael "Trip" Wright and Lyra and Maya Wright-Spain; step-grandchildren Joshua, Jessica, Taylor, Trent, and Owen; her sister Sandy Smith and brother Kent (Cherie) Smith; stepbrothers Steve and Gary Button; and nephew Kelly (Chassidy) Smith, step-nephew James Harper and step-niece Kelli (Jeremy) Brown. Cristi was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Smith, Jr. and Betty Jane Button; stepfather A. Dwight Button; stepbrother Tom Button; and step-granddaughter Aubrey Wilson.
Cristi was known for her warmth and her outgoing nature. She never met a stranger, and her light and laughter could brighten any room. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA.org) or the Humane Society of Tulsa (tulsapets.com).
