On December 7, 2015 Cyril Michael Crawshaw died peacefully in his sleep after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Michael was born on January 24, 1936 to Dyson and Mary (Walker) Crawshaw in Royston, Yorkshire, England.
Michael attended Brown's Tutorial School in Wakefield, England, where he met the love of his life, Pauline Sidgwick. Upon graduation from Brown's, he attended the Hotel and Restaurant School at the College of Leeds . Following his graduation, Michael enlisted in the British Royal Air Force, for which he served two years. Following his service, he furthered his career with positions throughout England in the hotel and hospitality industry.
In 1964, he and his wife, Pauline, moved to Tulsa, OK, so that Michael could accept a position at the Tulsa Club. As General Manager, Michael spent more than 25 years serving some of the most respected and philanthropic families in Tulsa. He often remarked that his years at the Tulsa Club were the best a professional in his field could ever experience. He later spent years as Manager at Tulsa's Cedar Ridge Country Club and Heather Downs Country Club in Toledo, OH. He and Pauline retired to Leesburg, FL until returning to Tulsa in 2011.
His greatest love, however, was his wife of 56 years, Pauline, his four children, his 13 grandchildren and his newly born great-grandchild. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Dyson and Mary Crawshaw. He is survived by his wife, Pauline, and his children: Caroline (Eric) Devonshire of Tulsa; David (Kim) Crawshaw of Owasso, OK; Chris (Christine) Crawshaw of Winnetka, IL and Julie (Duncan) McBride of Jenks. He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew (Brittany) Holmes and Hayley Holmes, Katherine Devonshire; Megan, Mason, Madden, and Mackenzie Crawshaw; Jack, Kate, Ally Crawshaw; and Madison, Kate and Sara McBride, as well as great-grandson Liam Holmes. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Graham Crawshaw, of England.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the caretakers at Saint Francis Hospice, and the home health agency of Home Instead, for the loving care provided to Michael during his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
