Obituary

Daniel Joseph Eshom, age 80, went to heaven on March 28, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Dan was born on September 9, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA, to parents Daniel Bernard Eshom and Elizabeth Simon Eshom. He graduated from LaSalle High School in Pasadena, CA, Class of 1962.

Dan joined the United States Navy in December, 1963 and served as an aviation antisubmarine warfare technician until his discharge in 1967. He enjoyed being in the Navy and is very proud of his service to his country. He earned the decorations of National Defense Service Medal Vietnam Service Medal (Two Bronze Stars) and Republic of Vietnam Service Medal.

On December 26, 1964, Dan married Mary Gail Good who he met through mutual high school friends. They moved to Memphis, TN for Dan's initial training followed by orders to be stationed at Coronado Naval Base, CA. Dan served two tours in Vietnam during which Catherine was born. When he was discharged, Dan returned to California where he and Gail continued to grow their family with Patty, Dan and Tim. Dan continued his education and held various sales and leadership roles beginning with Brown Jordan and ultimately in the oil and gas industry. Dan enjoyed a lifelong sales career moving the family from California to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1981. As his responsibilities grew, Dan moved the family to Denver, Colorado in 1985 where they lived until 1997 when another move brought Dan and Gail to Austin, TX. Dan retired as Director of Sales for Weatherford International, an oil and gas industry leader in 2003. Dan and Gail then settled in Tulsa for their retirement years.



In his later years, Dan enjoyed having the time to volunteer in his community and parish. He tutored youth in reading programs at McClure Elementary through Reading Partners and mentored adults at South Tulsa Community House.
Dan and Gail were active parishioners at the Church of St. Mary's where he was involved in several committees. He was proud to serve on the Stewardship and Newcomers Committees and enjoyed working with the Outreach Center. Dan was also active in the Audubon Park Homeowners Association, serving in board positions over the past 20 years.

Over the years, Dan embraced many hobbies, including bicycling, hiking, and more recently walking. He will always be remembered as a man of strong faith with a positive outlook who loved spending time with his family and friends.

Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gail, along with their children, Cathy Mitchell and husband Brad(Tulsa, OK), Patty Goodburn and husband Mark(Excelsior, MN), Tim Eshom(Winter Park, CO) and grandchildren Emily (Mitchell) and husband Gibb Wingate, Abigail (Mitchell) and husband Sean Webster, Mackenzie and Matthew Goodburn, great-grandchildren William and Benjamin Webster and Sloane Wingate. Dan is also survived by his older sister Betsy Hernandez and younger siblings Margaret Gray, Tom Eshom and Katie Chapyak.

He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Elizabeth Eshom, and son Daniel Bernard Eshom II.
