After decades of service to Oklahoma and his country, Daniel Keating left a lengthy legacy when he died Saturday, at age 74, in Tulsa.
Prior to serving on the state board of education and as the state co-chairman of the Trump for President Campaign in 2016, Keating had multiple roles in state government and nonprofit governance over the years. Keating was the vice-chairman of Summit Consolidated Group, a national brokerage and insurance company. He was previously the company's president.

Honor, duty, service and leadership were ingrained in Dan's approach to work and life. As a young man, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served a thirteen-month tour of duty in Vietnam with the 5th Marine Regiment. He would later retire from the Marine Corps Reserves at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Daniel gave his time and leadership to many civic, professional and community organizations, such as: Oklahoma State Board of Education; Oklahoma Wesleyan University Foundation board member; Oklahoma State Chamber member (former vice chairman), Salvation Army Advisory Board, Valley National Bank of Tulsa Board of Directors, City of Tulsa Transportation Advisory Board (past chairman), Presidential Appointee for the Board of Advisors on Tribal Colleges and Universities, Oklahoma Historical Society (former finance committee chair), and Oklahoma Cigarette and Tobacco Tax Advisory Committee (former chairman).
He also served as a Tulsa Community College regent and was honored with the Oklahoma Wesleyan university's President's Award. He was a delegate to four Republican National Conventions.
Daniel was professionally qualified with his Master of Business Administration at University of Oklahoma and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) certification.
Daniel was a member of Southern Hills Country Club, where he enjoyed playing tennis. He was an avid outdoorsman. Daniel and Kathy were life-long members of Holy Family Cathedral. Daniel loved his dogs, and was particularly fond of his Bassett Hound, Barney.
