Dan was born on September 25, 1940 in Benton County, Iowa to parents Edward McAndrews and Roberta Bell. He graduated from Dysart High School with the class of 1959. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Air Force stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. From there he was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base is Florida. In 1961, he served overseas for two years in France when the Berlin Wall was constructed. Upon his return, he was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he finished his service in 1967.
When he got out of the Air Force, he accepted a position as a Physician's Assistant. After which he took a job with the United States Postal Service, where he remained until he retired at the age of 77, in 2018.
On November 21, 1959, he married his wife, Anita Doyle. They made their home in Miami, Florida from 1974 until 2001.They then moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where they lived until his passing.
He was deeply involved with the Knights of Columbus and the National Association of Letter Carriers Union. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing. His friends and family will remember him as the loving, caring head of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anita, five daughters; Robin, Deborah, Heather, Heidi and Haley, 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, his brother, Ken and sister, Judy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Roberta, and three brothers, Jim, Ted and Jack.
