Obituary

Darryl Allen Christner, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 7, 1962, to John and Estella Christner, passed away on January 25, 2024, in Tulsa.

Darryl, the eldest child, was a loving brother to Danny and Dee. His childhood saw him in Springfield, Missouri, and later he returned to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school in 1981. A proud alumnus of Oklahoma State University, Darryl graduated in 1986 and was a dedicated member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. On July 24, 1993, he embraced a lifetime commitment, marrying Julie Lowe. Together, they were blessed with three children - Josh, Joel, and Jillian.

Darryl's father, John, laid the foundation for John Christner Trucking (JCT) in 1986. Darryl and his brother Danny joined as co-owners, with Darryl serving as the company's chief financial officer. Under their guidance, JCT blossomed into one of the nation's largest refrigerated trucking companies, a testament to Darryl's financial acumen. In 2022, they sold the company, marking Darryl's well-deserved retirement.

Beyond his professional success, Darryl had many interests and hobbies. Golf, biking, hunting, and travel were some of his passions. He actively contributed to the community, serving on the boards of Bishop Kelley High School and Arvest Bank. Darryl was known for his inquisitive mind, avid reading habits, and engaging conversations that reflected his profound analysis of the world.

While Darryl's intelligence and success were undeniable, it was his heart and love for others that made him truly lovable. Caring, humble, and generous, Darryl possessed an unparalleled sense of humor. His world-class impersonations and ability to evoke deep belly laughs endeared him to all fortunate enough to know him. His absence leaves a void that will be keenly felt.

Darryl is survived by his loving family: his wife, Julie; son Josh and his wife Naomi; son Joel and his fiance Emily Elmburg; daughter Jillian; father and stepmother John and Gloria Christner; mother Estella Christner; sister Dee Christner; mother-in-law Madena Lowe; sister-in-law Suzann West and her husband Jay; nieces Chloe Christner, Riley Christner, Molly Benz and Macy Richard; nephews John Wayne Christner, Daniel Christner, Nic Christner and Samuel Richard. Darryl was predeceased by his brother Danny Christner, niece Victoria Christner and grandmother Doris Boyd.
