Obituary

Dave Berman (98) passed away peacefully on Feburary 25, 2017. He was born in Alma, Michigan on October 19, 1918 to Ida and Benjamin Berman and was the eldest of four children. Dave was married to Lucille Ludmeyer Berman for 58 years until her death in 2001.

Dave rose from humble beginnings to become a very successful businessman. He started working in his father's junk business driving a truck and making deliveries before school at the age of 12. Dave served in the army during World War II, working his way up the rank of Chief Master Sergeant and was a Bronze Star recipient. During his military training in Joplin, Missouri, he met the love of his life, Lucille. They married in St. Louis on October 10, 1943. Over the years, they shared home and office duties, while occasionally sneaking off on a cruise.

Through his entire life, Dave was always extra sensitive to the plight of others less fortunate than him and enjoyed spending time with them. He was a senior vice president and partner with other family members in May's Drug and Drug Warehouse until his retirement. He enjoyed the company of his peers in the drug store industry–many of them Fortune 500 senior executives.

Throughout the years, Dave and Lucille's greatest success was raising their three children together. Survivors include: Bob (Laurie) Berman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Debbie Berman of Houston, Texas and Jeannie (Matt) Warden of Bellaire, Texas. He proudly provided them with love and all of their worldly wants and needs. His greatest joy was his three grandchildren: Stacy Berman of Houston, Texas, Lindsey Warden of Houston, Texas and Andrew Warden of Bellaire, Texas. He loved spending time with them and the entire family at their lake house on Lake Texoma.

The family thanks his team who helped make his final years the best possible: Carol Stanley, Susan Surchev, Shena Walton, Sheila Antwine and Lori Francois and all of the staff at Zarrow Pointe (Tulsa Jewish Retirement and Health Center). Graveside services were held at Temple B'nai Israel Cemetery on February 27, 2017 in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zarrow Pointe, 2025 East 71st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma where he lived for many years.
