Obituary
David Lee Akers, age 68, ended his earthbound journey on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Dave passed after a brief and very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
David was born on February 18, 1947 in Olustee, Oklahoma to Eugene and Lois (Bilbrey) Akers. He moved to Rogers, Arkansas, with his older brother and dear friend, Bill Akers, where they lived with their beloved grandparents John and Lettie Akers. David met the love of his life and married Deborah "Debbie" (Peet) on February 7, 1967. Dave and Debbie moved to Tulsa in August of that same year. David and Debbie had a daughter, Heather in 1971 and a daughter, Emily in 1974 who predeceased David in 2006.
David is survived by his wife, Deborah Akers. His daughter, Heather Akers and her children Laurel and Gage Rains.
Donations may be sent in David's memory to: Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, California 90266.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and a Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday both at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 918-291-3500.
