David was born on March 28, 1963 in Houston, Texas, the son of Dallas and Betty (Mobley) Henderson. He was raised in the Clinton, Arkansas area, graduating from Clinton High School in the class of 1981. He then furthered his education at Arkansas Tech University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences. On May 17, 1991, he married Lynell Butler, the love of his life, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They moved several times during their 27 wonderful years of marriage together before settling in Tulsa for the last 7 years. David had most recently worked as a data architect for the Quik Trip Corporation.
Before marrying the love of his life, David spent time with both Youth With a Mission and Wycliffe Bible Translators. David and Lynell met in a singles group at First Baptist Ft. Smith. They had plans of becoming missionaries in Tanzania, Africa, but God had other plans for them and they started a family.
He was very active at Central Church of the Nazarene, and showed Christ's love to others through his dedication, and service. He had served on the Church Board, was a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class, was the Outreach Service Fellowship Committee Chair, served on the Missions Committee, and welcomed many to worship services as a greeter.
He loved horticulture, and enjoyed the outdoors, however, his true passion was Genealogy. As a young man he was intrigued by this, and shared his enthusiasm with others, as he helped them learn more about their ancestors, and family history.
David is survived by his loving wife, Lynell, of the home, daughter, Allie Henderson, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son, Matt Henderson, and his wife, McKenzy, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, mother, Betty Henderson, of Garland, Texas, brothers, Randy Henderson, of Houston, Texas, Steve Henderson, of Austin, Texas, Don Henderson, and his wife, Nancy, of Garland, Texas, and numerous other extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Henderson, in 2017.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the David Henderson Memorial Fund at Central Church of the Nazarene, to help build a school in the Dominican Republic on an upcoming mission's trip.
