Deane Darais Griffeth, 87, passed away April 2, 2011. Deane was born August 28, 1923, in Tulsa to Frank W. and Birdella Darais. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Lloyd Griffeth, daughter Donna Jean, brother Donald Darais and sister Frances Mangold. She is survived by her brother Frank J. and wife Dee, daughters Joanne Powell and her son, Mark Tempinski; Donita Cough and husband Ed and their children, Jimmy Fink, Kelly, Michelle, and Bryan; and Marilyn Ford and husband Joe and their children, Karen and Katie; and son Mike Griffeth and wife, Tammy. Also, many nieces and nephews.
Deane attended Pershing Elementary, Immaculate Conception and Holy Family High School during which time she wrote a column for the Tulsa World. Following graduation she attended business school and worked as a bookkeeper in Tulsa. On December 11, 1945, she married Jim, the love of her life, with whom she shared 58 years. Besides being a devoted wife and loving mother, she provided business support during his time as a DX service station lessee. Both were actively involved in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was employed by St. Francis Hospital as a unit secretary in Labor and Delivery and in the Education Department for 30 years. She and Jim enjoyed and belonged to several Tulsa area square dance clubs, serving as officers on some occasions, and after retiring she and Jim toured 48 of the United States by bus, making many new friends. She also enjoyed reading biographies of world leaders.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald's. A rosary will be said at 7 PM on Tuesday, April 5th at the Ivy Chapel, funeral at 10 AM, Wednesday, April 6th , at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
